You’re wandering around Nan’s tavern meeting all the members of the fancy new Guild in town when you see a reasonably tall man with long, dark hair and glasses. He’s standing in the corner trying to be unobtrusive but nonetheless seems to want to talk to someone. This seems odd and counterintuitive. You think you heard someone mention that his name is Devin. You decide to approach him. What do you ask about?

1) His mysterious past?
2) His uncertain future?
3) Is he a dog or cat person?

1) “I’ve always loved reading, ever since my parents would put me to sleep with the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings when I was too young to understand much of them. I’ve spent most of my life reading fantasy and science-fiction with a brief stint of classic Russian literature in college. I may or may not have identified strongly with the narrator in Notes from Underground, but that doesn’t really matter. I’ve been playing all kinds of tabletop games since I was little and designing my own for about 10 years.”

2) “I’ll always love playing, analyzing, and designing board games. I can usually find at least one thing I like in every game I play, no matter the genre, but I have a strong preference for games that foster unique narratives every time I play them. I’ll be here talking about narrative structures in different kinds of games, reviewing games, occasionally releasing some other writing, and journaling about my game design process.” He looks around the room to make sure no one else is listening, leans in with a little smile, and whispers, “I also have a secret project that I might only release for the Guild, but don’t tell anyone yet.”

3) “That’s a nonsense question. They’re both wonderful.”
